VOLVO V60 POLESTAR
The unveiling follows last week's short teaser clip, hinting at the expanded launch that was promised when the current S60 Polestar first launched as part of an Australia-only pilot program earlier this year.
For the S60, this latest development focuses largely on adding the line-up's updated styling, but today's unveiling also marks the V60 wagon's introduction to the new Polestar project.
As with the sedan currently offered in Australia, the updated S60 and new V60 are powered by a 257kW/500Nm turbocharged six-cylinder petrol engine.
Power is transmitted to the Haldex all-wheel-drive system through a paddle-shifted six-speed automatic transmission, both enhanced for application in the boosted Polestar models.
The company promises a 0-100km/h time of 4.9 seconds for both models, and they'll hit 200km/h in 17.7 seconds. Top speed is electronically limited to 250km/h.
Braking is managed by 371x32mm floating and ventilated Brembo discs up front with six-piston calipers, and 302x22mm ventilated discs at the rear.
The Polestar models springs have been stiffened by around 80 percent compared to the regular R-Design tune that forms the basis of these cars.
Both models ride on Polestar's unique 20-inch alloy wheels, wrapped in 245/35 R20 rubber, and the familiar - yet updated - Polestar-tweaked R-Design styling is also featured.
Pricing for the new models has yet to be confirmed, but Polestar says it will offer these models in an expanded global program that will include Canada, the Netherlands, Japan, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom and the US.
Watch for Australian details to come.
