Promising a “new era” in the brand’s styling language, the four-door coupe revealed an evolved take Volkswagen’s familiar angular themes.
These new renderings by independent artist ‘X-Tomi’ offer a look at how the Sport Coupe could look if (or ‘when’) the concept is transformed into the next-generation CC.
There is little to separate this pair of renderings from the new concept, although there is little about the Sport Coupe’s styling that could not comfortably make the leap to production.
As ‘X-Tomi’ as shown here, the Sport Coupe GTE’s deep headlights would likely be simplified for a production run, and regular door handles would replace the flush levers or buttons that feature on the concept.
And, although not shown here, the new CC’s interior would likely also feature fewer high-gloss surfaces through the centre console - a point of regular skin contact.
As with the new Passat range, however, the Sport Coupe GTE’s large centre and instrument cluster display screens could easily transition to showroom models.
Volkswagen has yet to confirm the Sport Coupe’s future, or whether it does indeed preview the next CC, but we should expect to learn more in the months ahead.
