Skoda’s new Superb liftback will soon be joined by its anticipated ‘Combi’ wagon companion, spied for the first time on European roads this week.
As expected, the wagon will build on the new Superb’s lines, tacking a tapered sportswagon shape onto its rear end.
In its current form, the Superb wagon boasts rear storage capacities of 625 and 1760 litres (seats up/down). Reports suggest the new model’s cargo space will grow to around 660 and 1890 litres respectively.
The new Superb wagon is expected to make its global debut in July, following the February unveiling of the sharp new liftback.
Speaking with press at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this month, Skoda chairman Winfried Vahland said that European buyers can expect to see the wagon in showrooms from September.
That could mean a second- or third-quarter 2016 launch in Australia, although specific timing is unlikely to be confirmed until next year.
Local timing for the liftback model has also not been confirmed, but a first-quarter 2016 debut is likely.
