Renault’s next-generation Laguna sedan, spied testing in recent weeks, is expected to make its global debut in the coming months.
Long overdue, the new Laguna will debut as a replacement for the third-generation model that has been on sale in various markets since 2007.
The current Laguna left Australia after the 2010 model year - around the same time that a facelifted model debuted in overseas markets - when it was replaced by the Korean-built Latitude.
Plans for a new Euro-designed and built Laguna were confirmed in 2013, when former Renault boss Carlos Tavares (now at PSA Peugeot Citroen) promised an impressive new design for the next generation.
“We need to continue to work on appeal. If you look at the new cars, you understand what I mean. It is about having character without being strange,” he said in 2013.
