Mazda’s push to keep the rotary engine in service may see another RX concept on display at this year’s Tokyo Motor Show.
Like the RX Vision from the 2015 show (pictured), the new concept would be another window into a future production model likely to use rotary power in at least some form.
But Auto Express reports this latest concept will be much closer to the road-going version than anything Mazda has unveiled to date.
Speaking with the British mag, Mazda’s Matsuhiro Tanaka reportedly said that the next RX-style concept could become “a reality”.
“With the Tokyo Motor Show we will be introducing a new design concept - you can think of it as an evolution of theme of the RX Vision,” Tanaka said.
“When we introduce a concept our intention from the engineering and design community is to make it a reality. What I will say is that we are making the utmost efforts to try and make this a possibility.”
