Lamborghini has unveiled its new rear-wheel-drive Lamborghini Huracan Spyder at the 2016 Los Angeles motor show.

The mid-engined, rear-wheel drive Spyder will be priced from $429,000 before on-road costs when it goes on sale in January, 2017. The Spyder variant represents an almost $50,000 premium over its coupe sibling.

The drop-top Huracan will be powered by the same 5.2-litre naturally aspirated V10 engine that produces 426kW and 540Nm and is mated to a seven-speed dual clutch transmission.

Lamborghini is claiming that it can sprint from 0-100km/h in 3.6 seconds and has a top speed of 319km/h.

The Huracan Spyder also has an eye-wateringly high claimed fuel use of 12.1L/100km but is a statistic that wouldn't be of much concern to any potential supercar buyer.
