2015 CIVIC TYPE R GENEVA MOTOR SHOW
Honda’s next-generation Civic Type R will come one step closer to its showroom debut next month, when a new concept previews in Geneva.
The new hot-hatch has been showcased officially in recent months during track testing, but only while wearing layers of black camouflage.
This new concept, teased with a dramatic illustration today, will offer a first official look at the new ‘CTR’ without a hint of disguise.
How close the concept’s styling will be to the final production model is unclear for now, although it is clear we can expect new bumpers and a giant rear wing integrated into the existing tail-light design.
The black-on-black test car revealed last year also wore bolt-on guard flares, but this illustration suggests we could see pumped guards incorporated into the sheet metal.
Honda has previously confirmed the the new Civic Type R will be powered by a 2.0 litre turbocharged engine, producing "in excess" of 206kW.
It will match Opel's Astra OPC however, which also features a 206kW 2.0 litre turbo engine. Of course, the Astra range is no longer offered in Australia.
