Volkswagen's long-coming seventh-generation Golf will make its global debut at this year's Paris Motor Show, according to reports out of Germany this week.

The new Mazda6 is also expected, bringing the sharp lines of its Takeri and Shinari concept progenitors to the road, along with a new MissionL-inspired Skoda Octavia.

Volkswagen Golf VII

The current Golf, while carrying its own unique styling, is actually an extensive overhaul of its predecessor, dating the platform all the way back to 2003.

Rather than debuting at the Frankfurt Motor Show, a mere 350km from its Wolfsburg offices, a report in Germany's Auto Motor und Sport this week points to a September unveiling in Paris.

Built on Volkswagen's new multi-purpose MQB platform, the new Golf will likely feature a wider track and a slightly longer body in both three- and five-door form.

The new Golf will also figure in the carmaker's new Blue-e-motion line-up, which will feature a range of electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles.

Mazda's Takeri concept, a veritable Batmobile-in-red, is believed to offer the best look yet at what we can expect from the next-generation Mazda6.

Like the new CX-5 and the Minagi concept before it, the new Mazda6 will do away with the long curves and happy-go-lucky looks of the brand's current line-up, replaced with hard corners and razor-sharp highlights.

When the Takeri hits production in the next year, it will feature Mazda's new SkyActiv engine, transmission and construction technologies. Wagon and hatch versions will likely also appear - and perhaps even a new MPS variant.

Skoda MissionL Bound For Production

Skoda's MissionL concept will reportedly debut in production form at the Paris show, but whether it will be a new Octavia or an all-new offering - "Lauretta" has been rumoured - is unclear.

Earlier reports have pointed to a new sub-Octavia model, based on the MissionL, debuting first in India before moving out to the global market.

Technical details for the MissionL have not been revealed, although it is believed that the as-yet unnamed production car will share its powertrains and platforms with the Volkswagen Jetta.
