The reborn Ford Falcon XR8 will be on display in Melbourne at the '1000 Pound Gallery' in Little Lonsdale Street on Saturday and Sunday, October 4 and 5.
This will be the first public appearance of the Falcon XR8 ahead of its launch later this year.
The gallery event, 'Outside The Oval', is an exhibition of art and design created by employees at the Ford Design Centre.
The centrepiece of the exhibition will be the new XR8. Ford Design Director, Todd Willing, said, “We’re very proud of the execution of the XR8, as well as the entire Falcon range, and we’re proud of the people that engineered and built it."
The Outside the Oval exhibition will also display more than 30 artworks - including sculpture, paintings and digital art - created by the Ford Design Team.
Another signature piece will be the Falcon Art Car, a Falcon ‘body-in-white’ emblazoned with images of employees who are now building the 2014 Falcon.
Formerly held internally at Ford, this is the first time the general public will have the opportunity to see the exhibition.
And, Ford fans, perhaps not widely recognised as connoisseurs of high art, will no doubt relish the opportunity to gaze over the sublime metal of the upcoming, and last, Ford Falcon.
Of course, no show without a pollie present, Victorian Minister for Manufacturing, the Hon. David Hodget, is to attend the launch on October 3.
Many of the artworks will be for sale, with much of the proceeds supporting the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
