Australia’s new car sales figures for November show a market still on the decline over 2013, despite breaking through the one million-barrier.

At the end of last month, 1,016,412 cars had found new homes but the market is down 4.8 percent on November last year and 2.2 percent year-to-date.

There’s ‘red ink’ to be found everywhere throughout the November VFACTS, including passenger cars (down 12.2 percent), light commercials (down 4.9 percent) and large SUVs (down 9.9 percent).

From an already-cool market in 2013, large cars have eased a further 37.7 percent compared to November last year, and are down 7.7 percent year-to-date.

Even the volume-selling small car market is down 11.7 percent on the same month last year, while sub-light city cars appear to be friendless in the current market; down 54.4 percent from November last year and 30.3 percent year-to-date.
