UPDATE: An earlier version of this story highlighted the stated but undefined differences in power outputs for the new Mustang, comparing this week's Australian data against figures released to the American market earlier this year.

It has since been confirmed that the difference is due to the standards of measurement used: North America's SAE system, versus the DIN system used here. Outputs will therefore be the same in both regions.

Ford’s all-new V8 Mustang will appear to be packing fewer horses than its American counterpart when it hits Australia late next year, but the carmaker has moved quickly to calm the masses.

Details for the new Mustang, making its first Australian appearance in coupe form this week, appeared to suggest lower power figures for our market than had previously been confirmed in overseas marketing material.

It was revealed today that the Mustang's 5.0 litre naturally-aspirated V8 engine will deliver the same 303kW and 525Nm in every market that it is offered.
