Morgan has been successful in negotiations with the Federal Department of Transport and the classic models - previously discontinued because of ADR (Australian Design Rules) compliance problems - have been reinstated into the model lineup for 2017 in Australia.
And the good news is that currency fluctuations - following Britain’s decision to exit the European Union - mean prices are down for the classics with the Morgan 4/4 starting things off at only $89,900 (plus on-road charges).
So the 2017 Morgan Classic lineup (all powered by various engines sourced from Ford) looks like this:
- 4/4 (1.6-litre, four-cylinder) - $89,900
- Plus 4 (2.0-litre, four-cylinder) - $99,800
- Roadster (3.7-litre V6) - $139,500
Then there are the beautifully-styled contemporary Morgan models which employ BMW’s ‘atmo’ 4.8-litre V8 engine, new aluminium chassis architecture and fully independent suspensions.
For 2017 the lineup is:
- Plus 8 - $220,000
- Aero 8 - $275,000
And of course the classic Morgan 3-Wheeler – now the subject of special ADR exemption - is again available for order.
