You may be looking at the last update for Mitsubishi’s battle-weary Lancer sedan.
Don’t get too excited Lancer fans, it’s called the Grand Lancer and it’s destined for Asian markets like China, Taiwan and Malaysia – but not Australia.
Styling changes are substantial - Mitsubishi’s ‘Dynamic Shield’ front grille (as seen in the Pajero Sport, Outlander and updated ASX) with plenty of chrome, strong character lines flowing from the front fenders through to the rear doors and revised tail-lights (LED this time).
Significant changes inside too, with new door inners and a revised dashboard to accommodate a new instrument cluster and centre stack with an eight-inch touchscreen.
Power comes from Mitsubishi’s 103kW/176Nm 1.8-litre MIVEC four-cylinder engine driving the front wheels via a CVT automatic transmission.
While the current Lancer is well-and-truly carrying a Senior’s Card, the new range is not due in Australian Mitsubishi dealerships this year.
