Mitsubishi Attrage Light Sedan Is On The Radar For Australia

Did we say 2015? We meant 2013. Because what you're looking at here is Mitsubishi's Attrage sedan, the production version of its recent G4 concept.

Reports in the past week suggested the production G4 would debut late in 2014, but Mitsubishi has now confirmed the light four-door will hit international markets this July. 

And, as a sedan counterpart to the new Mirage hatch, the Attrage is also a likely starter in the Australian market.

Speaking with TMR today, Mitsubishi Australia's Caitlin Beale said that while a local launch is not locked in, the Attrage is definitely on the company's radar. 

If the Attrage comes to Australia, we can likely expect its launch timing to mirror the Mirage, which went on sale in Thailand early in 2012 before hitting Australia earlier this year. 

(Interestingly, Mitsubishi trademarked the Attrage name in Australia back in 2003, but left it unused until early last year when the trademark was renewed.)

As a light sedan, the Attrage shares most of its underpinnings and components with the Mirage hatch, including the 57kW/100Nm 1.2 litre three-cylinder petrol engine.

The Attrage will be offered in Thailand with five-speed manual and CVT automatic transmissions, just as the Mirage gets in Australia.
