MINI’s retro-tastic Superleggera roadster looks set for a production future, if reports out of the UK this week are to be believed.
Revealed as a concept in May last year, the Superleggera was promoted as a design study - but it wasn’t long before pundits began to wonder if it could move into the production range as a replacement for the now retired MINI Roadster.
MINI has yet to confirm plans for the Superleggera, but insider comments and a purportedly leaked ‘patent application’ image that surfaced in December have kept the rumour mill turning.
Now, a new report with the UK’s Car magazine claims the Superleggera has “won approval” with parent company BMW, meaning the compact droptop could star in MINI’s streamlined ‘superhero’ future line-up.
