To commemorate the very first original Mini that rolled off British production lines in 1959 MINI has released the limited edition Seven range.
Just as the modern car pays loose tribute to the original Mini, the Seven adopts its name from the Austin Seven - the first Mini variant built, joining other nameplates in the British Motor Corporation stable, such as Austin 850, and Morris Mini.
Back to the present though, and the MINI Seven is offered as both a three- and five-door hatch, finished in Lapisluxury Blue and rolling on exclusive 17-inch Seven design twin-spoke alloy wheels.
The Seven logo gets splashed across the door sill finishers and the side scuttle, with Melting Silver paint applied to the roof and mirrors and bonnet stripes applied in Melting Silver with Malt Brown surrounds available as an option.
On the inside the fabric and leather seats in Diamond Malt Brown, team with piano black interior finishes. The Seven logo appears on the central instrument surround and Malt Brown is optional across the dash and doors.
MINI’s Chili option pack is also offered in Seven Chili flavour, adding LED head and fog lights, climate control, sports leather steering wheel, auto lights and wipers, trip computer, passenger seat height adjustment, velour floor mats, storage package, lighting package, MINI Excitement Package and MINI Driving Modes.
European buyers will be offered the MINI Seven in Cooper, Cooper D, Cooper S, and Cooper SD, models in both three-door and five-door hatch bodystyles.
Buyers not satisfied with non-metallic Lapisluxury Blue can also specify Pepper white, Midnight Black metallic or British Racing Green metallic.
The 2016 MINI Seven is the third limited-run Seven model, following on from the first generation in 2001, and revived again in 2005 which introduced the contrasting silver roof to the MINI range when it debuted.
Right now MINI has only made an official announcement of the Seven package for the European market - news of an Australian debut for the Austin Seven tribute is yet to be confirmed.
