MINI's flagship Paceman John Cooper Works edition has made its official debut today, just hours after leaked images surfaced online.

As expected, the enhanced Paceman JCW is powered by MINI's 1.6 litre turbocharged four, producing 160kW at 6000rpm and 280Nm of torque between 1900 and 5000rpm.

An overboost function is also featured, pushing torque to 300Nm for short periods between 2100 and 4500rpm.

Combined with ALL4 all-wheel-drive and the standard six-speed manual, or optional six-speed auto, the turbo 1.6 shoves the Paceman JCW to 100km/h in 6.9 seconds.

Top speed is listed at 226km/h, and fuel consumption on the EU combined cycle is rated at 8.0 l/100km for the manual, 8.4 for the auto.

All JCW models are treated to handling tweaks, and the Paceman version picks up features largely in-line with its five-door Countryman JCW stablemate

There's revised suspension (MacPherson up front and a central-arm rear axle), with an optimised spring and damper setup, stronger anti-roll bars and a 10mm lower ride.
