Details for the new model are still to be confirmed, but we can likely expect it to share much of its mechanicals with the five-door Countryman JCW.
If the two high-riding MINIs feature the same innards, watch for the familiar turbocharged 1.6 litre engine to appear, delivering 160kW and 280Nm of torque.
In Countryman form, and with ALL4 all-wheel-drive on hand, MINI promises a swift sprint to 100km/h in just 7.0 seconds - in both six-speed manual and automatic versions.
