MINI boss Kay Segler has reportedly shed new light on his brand's plans for three new models before 2022, including word of a compact sedan.

The report follows talk earlier this year that the carmaker would look to add three all-new models to the range after its new Paceman launches next year. In all, MINI is targeting 10 unique cars.

Speaking with Britain's Autocar, Segler confirmed only the deadline, but he added that the popularity of sedan models in the Chinese market could inspire a four-door in the MINI range.

“We are well aware that saloons are the big sellers in China and we’re keeping an eye on developments,” Segler told Autocar.

Reports suggest the other two models could include a new five-seat compact people-mover in the vein of Ford's Euro-market B-Max, and a new roadster even smaller than the current model.
