The next-generation A-Class will be carrying the torch for Mercedes as it pushes for a stronger foothold in the small prestige car segment, where BMW, Audi and Lexus are finding considerable success.

We've seen dozens of spy photos and leaked images, and earlier this month, one lucky cyclist caught the new hatch without a shred of camouflage.

So we know what to expect from the outside, but little has been seen of the new car's luxury cabin. Until now.

With its Geneva Motor Show debut now only a couple of weeks away, Mercedes-Benz has released a pair of teaser images that offer the best look yet at what buyers can expect to slide into.

It is clear from these new shots that the cabin of the A-Class will share more than a little with its slightly larger B-Class sibling (and less with its concept progenitor), with a trio of chrome-ringed vents flanked by a slide-out touchscreen and control panel.

Judging by the generous layer of carbon-fibre (or a lookalike treatment), this particular dash belongs to a sports variant - although we're unlikely to see the reported A 25 AMG at this early stage.

Mercedes says the new A-Class will offer a new level of mobile technology integration, including advanced iPhone connectivity through its new "Digital DriveStyle" app and the optional "Drive Kit Plus for the Apple iPhone" package.

The technology will also debut in the new B-Class, and will be offered with the E-Class later this year.
