Mercedes-Benz will use the race-honed skills of the Mercedes AMG High Performance Powertrains centre in the UK to refine the next-generation of AMG road cars, though it's not clear which car will be the first recipient of the centre's expertise.
Speaking to British mag Autocar, Thomas Weber, head of Mercedes-Benz development confirmed that the centre will branch out into road-going vehicles as it finishes up development of Benz's 1.6 litre turbo V6 Formula One engine.
The centre will also be engaged in advanced research and development for Mercedes-Benz, for both its race cars and road cars.
The AMG High Performance Powertrains centre also has vast experience in engineering the KERS hybrid system for F1, and that experience will come in handy for AMG's future products - which, according to the company, will eventually include petrol-electric hybrid models.
