Mercedes-Benz is reportedly considering a wider range of coupe-styled SUVs, inspired by the Concept Coupe SUV revealed this month.
That concept is expected to enter production in the coming year as the ‘MLC’, entering the Mercedes line-up alongside the current M-Class ‘ML’ SUV range.
A new report with industry paper Automotive News suggests that more models in that theme could follow, splitting the company’s SUV range into two lines: practicality and sports.
The report says that Mercedes-Benz R&D chief Thomas Weber has hinted that a second coupe-like model could join the new GLA compact SUV that launched this month.
Mercedes and BMW won’t be alone in the sporting SUV game: Land Rover already offers the Evoque, Porsche has launched its new Macan, and Audi is expected to launch a production version of the recent TT Offroad concept in the near future.
Now… who’s next?
