Mercedes-Benz has revealed images of a new water-bound concept dubbed Granturismo, representing a new (or reborn?) foray into the world of luxury yachting.
Previewed at last week’s Monaco Yacht Show, the 46.2 ft (14m) vessel’s design is the work of the “Mercedes-Benz Style” division.
Previous Mercedes-Benz Style projects include a cabin fitout for a special run of Eurocopter EC145 helicopters, and designer furniture pieces.
For the Granturismo, Mercedes’ product design division enlisted the design talents of Martin Francis and Tommaso Spadolini - both noted designers of seafaring vessels - while the yacht's engineering is being handled by Silver Arrows in the UK.
Specification details are scant at this point, but Mercedes-Benz Style describes the vessel as suitable for a wide range of uses, including overnight journeys.
