Reports of new AMG additions to the iconic G-Class range stretch back to early last year, but new reports out of Europe this week suggest that their coming is now confirmed.

The updated "Geländewagen" range is expected to debut in Beijing next month, and, according to German paper Autobild, the Mercedes stand will star new G 63 and G 65 variants built by the carmaker's AMG arm.

The G 63 is expected to replace the current G 55, with the 'new' model powered by AMG's familiar 5.5 litre bi-turbo V8 engine, delivering 400kW and 800Nm of torque.

In the G 65 AMG, expect the big G wagen to utilise AMG's trusty 6.0 litre V12, delivering a massive 463kW and 1000Nm of torque.

As for the wider G-Class range, last week's online unveiling of the updated GLK midsized SUV brought an unexpected (though doubtless planned) look at the revised 2012 range.

Watch for the new G-Class and its AMG heroes to debut next month.
