As with the top-shelf A-Class model, the CLA flagship leaves the sedan's bodywork untouched, focusing instead on unique front and rear styling, larger wheels and a meaner stance to set it apart from the CLA 250 Sport.
This early online unveiling of the AMG's latest offering also follows news last week that the A 45 AMG will debut in Australia later this year with a $74,900 starting price.
Both cars are driven by Mercedes-Benz AMG's new 2.0 litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, producing 265kW and 450Nm of torque.
Combined with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and all-wheel-drive, Mercedes says the hi-po four will push the A 45 to 100km/h in 4.6 seconds.
Performance figures for the sedan are still to be revealed, but we can likely expect them to be on par with the hatch.
Fuel consumption too should be close, listed at 6.9 l/100km with the hatch.
