Mercedes-Benz looks to be preparing a wagon version of its small CLA four-door coupe, according to reported comments from design boss Gordon Wagener this week.
Speaking to the UK's What Car?, Wagener appeared to confirm that a wagon is on the way, potentially as a smaller twin to the CLS Shooting Brake.
“The CLA is a four-door coupe as well, so why not do it?”, Mr Wagener told the website.
The question is now whether the wagon will stick to the Shooting Brake formula, or if it will wear a taller and more practical design.
If a CLA Shooting Brake does materialise, it could also lead to an enhanced CLA 45 AMG version.
Mr Wagener reportedly also nixed talk of a coupe or convertible version of its current A-Class hatch, declaring the AMG-enhanced A and CLA models sporting-enough.
“We don't need a sports car, the market is declining,” Mr Wagener said.
