Mercedes-Benz' new pocket-rocket A 45 AMG has surfaced online this morning, weeks ahead of its global premiere at next month's Geneva Motor Show.

These official press photos, obtained by Russian website AutoWP, offer the first look at the newest AMG model without a shred of camouflage.

The A 45's styling does not represent an extensive departure from the look of the A 250 Sport, with the bulk of the magic hiding under the skin.

While official details for the new hot hatch have yet to be released, Mercedes confirmed in 2012 that the A 45 will feature the familiar 4Matic all-wheel-drive technology and seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Mercedes also confirmed late last year that the 4Matic system will weigh in at around 25 percent less than rival systems (Audi's quattro setup).

A 2.0 litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine will provide power, and it is known that the new hot hatch will deliver more than 245kW and 400Nm of torque.

Keep an eye on TMR for all of the official details as they come to hand.
