Mercedes-Benz has already announced a special edition of its upcoming A 45 AMG hot hatch, ahead of the regular A 45’s debut at March’s Geneva Auto Show.

To be known as ‘Edition 1’, the unique trim grade will boast several trim options as a package, likely to be priced lower than if 'specced up' individually.

Finished exclusively in Cirrus white, the Edition 1 picks up contrasting matte grey stripes on the bonnet, roof, and sides, and red accents to the grille, brake calipers, wing mirrors, wheel centre caps and rear wing.

This rear wing will be part of the otherwise optional Aerodynamics package, and also features an enlarged front splitter and front bumper ailerons.

Black multispoke 19-inch wheels will be standard on the Edition 1, while the A 45 AMG’s 265kW/450Nm 2.0 litre turbo four and all-wheel drivetrain will be otherwise unchanged.

On the inside, the Edition 1 features AMG Performance seats, trimmed in ARTICO leatherette and DINAMICA faux suede, with the latter also featuring on the dash top and steering wheel.

The otherwise black interior is offset with red detailing, and an Edition 1 badge is fitted to the centre console.

Australia

It’s too early to suggest local availability of the Edition 1 variant of the A 45, but a clearer picture is likely after its official unveiling next month.

Mercedes-Benz Australia has confirmed the ‘regular’ A 45 will make its way down under in August, priced at around $80,000.
