Mercedes-Benz has already revealed its new GLE Coupe SUV and the sports-focused GLE 450 AMG 4Matic Coupe, but it’s not stopping there.
Details for the new hero SUV are still to be revealed, although we can likely expect power to be provided by Mercedes-AMG’s new 4.0 litre twin-turbo V8.
In the recently revealed new C 63 sedan, that engine delivers a stonking great 375kW in its top tune, and 350kW in regular form.
Reports suggest that, in order to take on BMW’s 4.4 litre 422kW X6 M, AMG is preparing to dial its 4.0 litre V8’s output up to around 425kW.
Even at 375kW, the GLE 63 Coupe would be a convincing champion perched above the 270kW GLE 450 AMG. With 425kW, it would prove quite monstrous.
Interestingly, the carmaker also confirmed today that the GLE Coupe will appear in the new Jurassic Park film, Jurassic World, to be released in June.
That debut will continue a partnership that began with 1997’s Jurassic Park: The Lost World, which introduced the M-Class (soon to be renamed GLE).
Watch for the GLE 63 Coupe to appear in Detroit next week.
