McLaren has released a dark teaser image of its track-only 650S GT3 racer, ahead of an official unveiling at the upcoming Goodwood Festival.

The British carmaker says its newest model will follow the festival’s ‘Addicted To Winning’ theme for 2014, and completes a ‘three-peat’ of hot new McLaren models over recent weeks.

McLaren revealed last week that its track-focused P1 would revive the GTR name, while the 650S concept from McLaren Special Operations was unveiled in April.

Details on the 650S GT3 are thin at present, but the teaser image suggests the car will feature a large rear wing and racing-style wheels with singular central wheel nuts, while McLaren leaves us in no doubt that its GT3 will wear Pirelli tyres.

As the name suggests, the 650S GT3 is designed to compete in the FIA GT3 class; destined to follow in the wheel-tracks of the outgoing 12C GT3.

The 650S GT3 will be joined at the McLaren stand by the P1 and the 650S Special Operations concept, while at least three McLaren Formula 1 cars from yesteryear will also be present.

Interestingly, McLaren has played on the public’s current scepticism to the new sound produced by F1 power units this year, saying driver Jenson Button will “scream up the hill in this pre-turbo V8”; referring to Button’s car from the 2011 season.

The 2014 Goodwood Festival of Speed runs from June 26-29. Watch for more details on the McLaren 650S GT3 to emerge before then.
