Anticipation is building for the Geneva Motor Show launch of the second-generation McLaren Super Series – the first time McLaren has launched a second-generation model.

While full details have not been announced, McLaren has confirmed the newcomer will boast a tremendous new generation of its multi-mode Proactive Chassis Control system.

Included in the Sport and Track modes is McLaren Variable Drift Control with finger-tip control for the intensity of Electronic Stability Control.

McLaren says the new Proactive Chassis Control II system adds 12 extra sensors over the previous generation – including an accelerometer on each wheel hub – reading inputs from the driver and the road, plus measuring tyre contact patches and then adjusting suspension damping accordingly.

“Proactive Chassis Control II generates a significant amount of additional grip, but not at the expense of the balance and feel of the car,” explained Mark Vinnels, McLaren’s Product Development chief.

“The depth and breadth of handling precision and ride comfort in combination with the peerless level of driver involvement in the second-generation McLaren Super Series is simply extraordinary.”

The Geneva Motor Show kicks-off on 9 March.
