McLaren 675LT ‘Long Tail’ Takes To The Track In New Video

McLaren has put its new ‘Long Tail’ 675LT through its paces in the supercar’s natural environment - the track.

Luckily for us, the camera crew happened to be handy that day…

Unveiled at this year’s New York Auto Show following a typical teaser campaign, the 675LT is an evolution of the 650S upon which it’s based with a long list of design and aero changes.

Power comes from the same twin-turbo 3.8 litre V8 that drives the 650S, matched to a seven-speed SSG transmission, with outputs boosted over the 650S by 18kW and 20Nm to 496kW and 700Nm.

The LT’s drive system limits torque in first gear to a mere 600Nm, however, to preserve traction. Likewise, other gears will see the maximum 700Nm doled out only between 5500 to 6500rpm.

The 675LT can hit 100km/h from rest in 2.9 seconds - just a fraction quicker than the 650S’s 3.0 seconds - but the LT’s 0-200km/h time breaks through the eight-second barrier at 7.9 seconds. 

Top speed is 330km/h.
