McLaren has revealed its track-only 650S Sprint, ahead of a global debut at the 2014 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance

The new model is based on the 650S Coupe, and comes hot on the heels of the 650S GT3 which broke ground at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in June.

The Sprint gets a sharpened ‘Brake Steer’ system, improved aerodynamics and a race set-up for the ProActive Chassis Control (PCC), while sharing some of the GT3’s racing goodies.

McLaren says despite the track-focused modifications which provide a “more engaging GT racing experience, the Sprint hasn’t lost the “refinement and balance found in the road car”.

The 3.8 litre twin-turbo V8 from the road-going 650S is unchanged - producing 478kW of power and 678Nm of torque – but McLaren has altered the calibration between engine and transmission for the Sprint.
