McLaren 570S Confirmed For New York

British supercar maker McLaren has confirmed its coming New York Auto Show unveiling will carry the name ‘570S’.

The official name of the new model comes as the latest drip-fed detail for McLaren’s new Sports Series range, which was first announced in November.

The new model’s name likely also confirms the car’s output, referring to 570 metric horsepower or 420kW.

Numbers like that will make the 570S a key rival to the likes of Porsche’s 911 Turbo S, along with Ferrari’s newly turbocharged California T.

News of the 570S model’s confirmation was also accompanied today by another puzzle piece for the car’s styling, this time revealing an aero-sculpted C-pillar and carbon-fibre air intake.

Earlier teasers have included a view of the new model’s door, along with shots of camouflaged prototypes sliding around in testing.
