The pricing for at least one specification of Mazda's upcoming CX-5 small SUV has been revealed this week, tucked into the conditions of a contest being run on Mazda Australia's website.

Entrants are in the running to win the range-topping automatic-equipped 2012 CX-5 'GT' Diesel, powered by the Mazda's new green-focused 2.2 litre SkyActiv-D diesel engine

The SkyActiv-D engine produces 136kW and 420Nm of torque - and TMR's Tim O'Brien tested it earlier this year in a next-generation Mazda6 prototype (check out his review here).

While official showroom pricing is still to be revealed, the fine-print of the contest specifies a value of $55,000, including GST. (We would also assume this figure will include on-road costs.)

Australian dates for the CX-5 have not been announced, but a launch in the first few months of 2012 has been confirmed.
