Mazda has announced a recall of its BT-50 range for models sold between October 2011 and December 2012 (UP series).

The recall affects automatic transmission versions only, where the output shaft speed sensor may fail, resulting in an unintended downshift to first gear.

If the failure occurs while the vehicle is in motion the resulting wheel speed reduction could cause the rear tyres to slide or lock up until the vehicle slows, which could lead to a loss of vehicle control.
