Maserati has confirmed that it will introduce three new models over the next two years, and it's no trick guessing which those will be.

While the Fiat-owned brand has not offered details on the new cars, its own announcements in recent years have confirmed a new Quattroporte, a new midsized sedan, and a production version of the Kubang SUV concept.

Targeting significant sales growth, Maserati said it will increase production numbers to 50,000 units annually by 2015.

Hindered by an ageing line-up, the carmaker sold just 257 cars in March. The new models, along with an eventual sucessor to the GranTurismo, should go a long way toward boosting sales figures for the trident.

To accommodate the increased volume plans, Maserati will take over the Bertone plant purchased by Fiat in 2009. Preparing for its new models, the carmaker will invest 500 million euros into upgrading the plant.

Maserati also confirmed that it will build a new Alfa Romeo model at its existing Modena plant, with annual production pegged at around 2500 cars.

The new model was not identified, but with the small 4C sports car expected to finally enter production later this year, it is likely that Maserati has been tasked with the job.

With a 1.75 litre four-cylinder engine producing a rumoured 235kW expected to provide motivation, the 4C should prove appealing for enthusiasts waiting on a light-weight, rear-wheel drive Alfa sports car.
