The fastest Maserati to set wheel in Australian showrooms will go on sale next month, with the arrival of the GranTurismo MC Stradale.
The "fastest, lightest and most powerful" model in the Maserati line-up, the MC Stradale is powered by a retuned version of the same Ferrari V8 engine that drives the 'regular' GranTurismo.
Now, power is rated at a goodly 331kW and 510Nm of torque - up from the GranTurismo's 324kW and 490Nm of torque.
Thanks to that boost and a reduced weight of 1670kg (110kg less than the GranTurismo S), the MC Stradale is the first Maserati to crack 300km/h - just. According to Maserati, the special new GT will hit 301km/h.
The 0-100km/h sprint is covered in 4.6 seconds, and fuel consumption is listed at 14.4 l/100km - three-hundreths of a second quicker than the GranTurismo S, with a 13 fuel economy percent improvement.
"The Maserati MC Stradale meets demands which, for any other car maker, would appear to be in direct conflict,” Glen Sealey, General Manager for Maserati in Australia and New Zealand, said.
"On one hand it is a road going version of the Maserati Trofeo and GT4 racing cars. Yet, at the same time, it offers exemplary road comfort, refinement and even lower fuel consumption."
Other performance upgrades include a revised MC Race Shift transmission that cuts shift times to 60 milliseconds.
The MC Stradale also gains a dedicated Race mode on top of the upgraded Automatic and Sport modes.
Suspension is lower and there are now larger anti-roll bars. There are also new Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes, custom-developed Pirelli tyres and carbon-fibre race-inspired seats. Only in the front, mind - the rear seats have been dropped all together.
The Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradale is on sale now with a recommended retail price of $364,900, excluding statutory charges, on road costs and dealer delivery charges.
Available in limited numbers, the first Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradales will arrive for delivery in June.
