Taiwanese carmaker Luxgen has revealed the next generation of its line-up, in the form of the Neora electric vehicle concept.

The debut of the Neora showcar follows the international launch of the Luxgen7 SUV and MPV people movers and offers the first look at its plans for a five-seater sedan.

“Neora perfectly represents Luxgen’s brand spirit of Think Ahead, and the new form of appearance will be the design cues for Luxgen’s upcoming models in the future,” Luxgen Vice President James Shyr said.

“Its streamline flow, and the innovation of lightweight, as well as fuel economy, represent the novelty of Luxgen’s energy saving future technologies."

Weighing in at 1600kg, the Neora is powered by a 180kW electric motor driving the front wheels and propelling the sedan to 100km/h in 6.5 seconds.

The electric motor draws energy from a 48kWh lithium-ion battery, giving the Neora a driving range of around 400km from one charge. By comparison, the Nissan Leaf uses a 24kWh battery, with a driving range of around 160km.

A production schedule for the Neora has yet to be confirmed, although a regular petrol or diesel variant is likely to appear before the electric version makes its debut.
