Lotus has revealed it will unveil a new model at March’s Geneva Motor Show, although management is predictably quiet on details at this early stage.
The carmaker has promised that fans can expect “an exciting new car”, but it is unlikely that we’ll see an all-new next-generation model at the show.
Gales told press in November that the Evora will be given major styling and technical enhancements, with a special ‘Lightweight Lab’ team having already stripped the model down to its bones in order to find tricks to make the coupe even lighter.
The updated Evora will be far more athletic, Gales said, promising that it will out-drive a number of key Porsche models.
We should also see a dramatically updated Exige sometime in the coming year, bringing more power and less weight.
Today’s announcement also brought news of growth for the once-beleaguered brand, with global sales up 54 percent in the past nine months.
This is thanks in part to the addition of 25 new dealers, and there are plans for a further 50 by the end of 2015.
"The positive reception that all our new Lotus cars are receiving in both new and established markets shows that our product development strategy is heading in the right direction," Jean-Marc Gales said.
Watch for more on the updated Evora to surface soon.
