Lotus isn't finished with the ageing but constantly evolving Exige just yet. After benefiting from an Evora-inspired facelift sometime ago, the Exige has now debuted in Roadster form.

What we're looking at here is called the Exige S Roadster, debuting at the Geneva Motor Show this week as a soft-top version of the regular hardtop Exige S.

Driven by the same 3.5 litre V6 that motivates the hardtop, the Roadster delivers a supercharged 257kW and 400Nm of torque.

A six-speed manual transmission is standard, and Lotus' Serial Precision Shift automated manual box is available as an option.

Combined with a kerb weight just under 1100kg, the Exige S Roadster's drivetrain rockets the little Lotus to 100km/h in 4.0 seconds dead, and onto 160km/h in 8.5 seconds.

In manual form, the Roadster lists fuel consumption figures of 10.1 l/100km, with carbon emissions at 236g/km.

Under the skin, you'll find two suspension settings: Standard, suited to regular urban driving, and an optional setting that forms part of the Race Pack, developed specifically for track use.

As always, the interior of the Exige S Roadster is focused on spartan utility, focusing on minimalism and function.
