The new Lotus 3-Eleven has been unveiled at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, described by the sports car maker as its “quickest and most expensive series production car ever”.

How quick? The 3-Eleven in race-spec can hit 60 MPH (96km/h) from rest in under three seconds, on its way to a top speed of 280km/h.

Thanks to a less-aggressive aero package the road-spec model has an even higher top speed, maxing-out at 290km/h.

In race-spec, the 3-Eleven weighs in at less than 900kg and is equipped with a six-speed sequential transmission with paddle-shifters, while the road-goer gets a six-speed manual H-pattern gearbox. Both versions get a Torsen limited-slip differential.
