Volkswagen has applied the Atacama label to its latest limited edition variant of the Amarok ute, named after the Atacama desert in Chile - the driest non-polar desert in the world.

Available on the manual TDI400 with selectable 4Motion and the automatic TDI420 with permanent 4motion, the Atacama builds on the equipment already available on the Highline grade, including satellite navigation and front and rear park sensors.

Unique Atacama upgrades include black Durban 18-inch alloy wheels to compliment the black sports bar, black side steps, black rear bumper, and body-side Atacama decals. The tray scores a Durabed spray-in tub liner, while up front there’s a set of bi-Xenon leadlights with LED daytime running lights.

On the inside a unique ‘Quad’ fabric trim covers the seats, finished with a quilted finish in the centre section of the seat base and backrest.

Other standard features for the Atacama include dual-zone climate control, a rear view camera, and auto lights and wipers.

The limited edition model is limited to just 500 examples, priced from $53,900 for the TDI400 manual and $56,990 for the TDI420 automatic (plus on roads).
