Lexus has updated its RC coupe range in Australia for 2016, adding a new turbocharged variant as the entry point to the range.
The RC 200t is the latest in a string of turbocharged entry-level models for Lexus, and joins the RC 350 and RC F performance model in the Australian RC range.
As with other 200t Lexus variants, power comes from a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine. For the RC, the powerplant produces 180kW and 350Nm with an official fuel figure of 7.3 l/100km.
Drive is sent to the rear wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters.
For the rest of the RC range, the 350 adds pre-collision and active cruise control to its list of safety features in the Luxury and F Sport variants, while also adding a new ‘Acceleration Sound Control’ feature to the F Sport to increase the engine noise in the cabin.
The 350 F Sport gains a limited-slip differential and a variable steering system with rear-wheel steering, along with a front damper system that is also standard in the 200t.
"The launch of three new vehicles, including two new turbo variants, provides customers with a wider choice and broadens our presence in important segments," Lexus Australia Chief Executive Sean Hanley said.
"The new RC 200t model is an ideal entry level model in the RC coupe line, delivering outstanding performance.”
The 2016 Lexus RC is on sale now, with pricing at the entry-level now trimmed to $64,000 plus on-road costs.
