Lexus has confirmed that it will add a turbocharged four cylinder entry-level model to its RC coupe range, with the RC 200t set to join the lineup in Europe before making its way to Australia in December.
The RC 200t will be powered by the same 180kW/350Nm 2.0 litre turbocharged direct-injected four as the recently-announced IS 200t sedan, and take power to the rear wheels through an eight-speed automatic with paddle shifters.
And though Australian specifications and pricing have yet to be nutted out, the RC 200t will undoubtedly be priced under the existing V6-powered RC 350 - which starts at $66,000 for the base Luxury spec.
With a claimed 0-100km/h sprint time of 7.5 seconds the RC 200t will be more about "show" than "go", with most serious hot hatches able to outpace it. For reference, RC 350 (below) hits 100km/h in a much swifter 6.1 seconds.
