UPDATE: Lexus has now added a comment in promotion of this concept. See below.

Lexus has suffered an ‘own goal’ online this week, accidentally posting the name and a teaser of its new Geneva Motor Show concept to Twitter.

The shadowy teaser image above, posted by Lexus Europe before being quickly removed, marks our first look at the new concept.

The image was accompanied by confirmation of the concept’s name: LF-SA.

Full details are still to be revealed, although it is believed the LF-SA will preview a new small car, either replacing the CT hatch or entering below it as an Audi A1-rivalling ‘city car’.

As this teaser reveals, the new car’s front-end will build on the complex lines of the new RC Coupe and NX SUV, with the brand’s large ‘spindle’ grille and Nike-like daytime running lights dominating the design.

Lexus has also released a statement on the LF-SA's potential, describing as a premium vehicle focused on driver pleasure.

"The LF-SA has been conceived as a luxurious, driver-focused vehicle, designed to address a future world that is more influenced by technology and virtual experiences.

"The new concept reflects Lexus's passion for new design trends and explored unexpected territories for the brand."

Watch for more to surface in the coming hours.
