Lexus LF-Gh Confirmed For 2011 Australian International Motor Show

Lexus has confirmed that its LF-Gh Concept sedan will appear at July's Australian International Motor Show, giving Australian buyers a preview of the brand's next-generation large sedan.

The Melbourne event will be the hybrid concept's second major event, following its global unveiling at April's New York Auto Show.

Billed as a technical and design study, the LF-Gh is believed to represent a look at the next GS sedan. With the current model now into its sixth year, a new fourth-generation GS cannot be far away.

Among its styling features are Lexus LS-inspired three-bulb headlights, and a new 'spindle' grille pattern. The rear end sees sharp LFA-inspired tail-lights flanked by slotted vents and two trapezoidal exhaust tips.

"The LF-Gh grille really is a powerful design element in its own right - it will become a signature Lexus design element," Lexus Australia boss Tony Cramb said.

"Our latest vehicle, the CT 200h, hinted at where we were taking our L finesse design philosophy, but LF-Gh leaves no questions about what is next for Lexus."

Lexus has yet to reveal more than a little of the LF-Gh's interior, but Melbourne showgoers could be the lucky first to get a proper look.

Similarly, details of the LF-Gh's hybrid powertrain have not been disclosed, but the Japanese carmaker may use the Melbourne event to offer up some fresh details.

The Australian International Motor Show opens at 6pm on Friday 1 July and runs through until Sunday 10 July at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Other new models and concepts confirmed for the 2011 AIMS include the Toyota Prius V and Prius C, the Suzuki Swift S-Concept, the Range Rover Evoque, the Toyota FT-86 II Concept, the 2012 Audi A6 and the 2012 Jaguar XF. 

Other recent confirmed models include the Lamborghini Aventador and a preview of Australian carmaker JOSS Developments' upcoming JT1 supercar.
