Lexus CT 200h Australian Pricing Announced

Lexus Australia has announced pricing for the upcoming 2011 CT 200h hybrid hatch, which will make its debut at the F1 Grand Prix in Melbourne on March 24-27.

Priced from $39,990 for the entry-model Prestige, the CT 200h range will also include Luxury and F Sport models, topping out at $55,900 for the CT 200h Sports Luxury.

Entering at nearly $16,000 less than the most affordable IS, Lexus Australia CEO Tony Cramb says the CT 200h represents a strong jumping-on point for new buyers.

"CT 200h will open up the Lexus brand to a host of new and existing customers - those wanting to enter the luxury market, those wanting to downsize to a stylish and sporty hatchback, and those who wish to take advantage of the CT 200h's unique hybrid driveline," Mr Cramb said.

The Prestige will feature Smart Start technology, eight airbags, dual-zone climate control, 16-inch alloy wheels, daytime running lamps, 'two-mood two-mode' sport and eco driving modes, cruise control, USB connectivity and metallic paint.

The Luxury, F Sport and Sports Luxury variants add a reversing camera, while the Sports Luxury gains Active Cruise Control and the Pre-Collision Safety System.

The Lexus CT 200h hybrid is powered by a 1.8 litre VVT-i four-cylinder petrol engine combined with a rear-mounted electric-drive motor/generator.

Front-wheel drive, it also features an electrically-controlled continuously variable transmission (E-CVT) - the main benefit of CVT being its fuel economy gains.

The CT 200h will launch at this year's Australian Formula One Grand Prix, March 24-27, via the Lexus Celebrity Challenge.

Lexus says the world's first hybrid-only race will feature 27 new Lexus CT 200hs racing around Melbourne's Albert Park Formula One circuit, driven by "notable Australians".
