Lexus Australia has confirmed its RC 350 and V8 RC F will hit Australia in late 2014 or early 2015, finally giving the Japanese luxury brand a rival to the Mercedes C-Class Coupe, Audi A5 and BMW 4 Series.
The RC 350 will be powered by the same 3.5 litre naturally-aspirated V6 as the IS 350, and deliver 234kW and 380Nm of torque to the rear wheels.
As for the range-topping RC F, it will make use of a new naturally-aspirated 5.0 litre V8 with outputs in excess of 330kW and 520Nm - well above the 311kW/505Nm of the outgoing IS F's 5.0 V8.
As with the RC 350, power will go to the rear wheels via an eight-speed automatic.
Dimensionally, the RC F is identical to the RC 350. However, the V8-powered Lexus coupe will benefit from its own unique suspension hardware, brakes, aero package, wheels and tyres.
"RC and RC F arrive at a time when Lexus is preparing to celebrate a quarter of a century in Australia," Lexus Australia boss Sean Hanley said in a statement issued today.
"These two new vehicles epitomise Lexus' renewed focus on driving dynamics and design - while signalling a bolder, stronger, more confident Lexus.
"We are certain that these two vehicles will appeal to Australian consumers, delivering that ideal mix of attractive looks and compelling performance."
Precise timing as well as pricing will be revealed closer to launch. There's still no word from Lexus on when/if a successor to the IS F sedan will arrive.
