New safety, new infotainment, and a new appearance package are all part of the adjustments made to the Land Rover Discovery Sport for the 2017 model year.

As with the updated Range Rover Evoque, the Discovery Sport will adopt Land Rover’s InControl Touch Pro touchscreen infotainment system, featuring a mammoth 10.2-inch screen.

The new super-wide high resolution display is free of hard buttons, with all commands taken care of via the screen, which offers pinch, swipe, and touch operation similar to an iPad.

Powered by a high performance Intel processor, InControl Touch Pro also incorporates a 60GB solid state drive, promising more media storage, and faster load times.

Land Rover will also be adding Tile tracking as one of the available apps, the first time the technology has formed part of an in-car system.

Already available through your smartphone, Tiles are small tags that you can attach to almost any item, and track their whereabouts via Bluetooth.

That means that if a Tile isn’t present in the vehicle, the car can remind you that your umbrella, handbag, school bag, wallet, house keys, or any other Tiled item is about to be left behind.

Safety systems are also set to be given a boost with the addition of Driver Condition Monitor, to detect drowsiness and alert the driver, Intelligent Speed Limiter, using road sign recognition to inform the driver of a new maximum speed limit, and asking for confirmation to set the new limit, as well as Lane Keep Assist.

On the outside, buyers can choose a new Graphite Pack featuring a new 19-inch alloy wheel design, Corris Grey roof, Narvik Black mirror caps, and Dark Atlas on the grille, side vents, and bonnet lettering.

So far the 2017 Discovery Sport changes have been announced in the UK, with Australian changes, pricing, and availability set to be announced later this month.
